I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, `You must be born again. ' - Quoting Jesus from the Bible; Book of John, Chapter 3, Verses 5 through 7
The good news of the Bible is that we get a do-over. A mulligan, if you will. A fresh start awaits us as we shed the old and clothe ourselves in the new. This promise repeats and is offered without condition to anybody open to accepting it. The shredding of the past is possible when moving from the natural to the supernatural. Death becomes life for the living and the dead. Uncertainty becomes confidence as faith replaces fear.
According to the UN's medium variant of the population projections, approximately 134.28 million births (arrivals) will occur globally in 2023, while 67.1 million will die (depart) per bigthink.com. Altogether, there are roughly 8 billion of us humans inhabiting the earth as we speak.
Each one of us has the opportunity to enter the Kingdom of God. Many have no desire or belief in the truth as it is laid out in the best-selling book of all time. For us, however, and countless others, there has been, and is, a stirring deep inside us to connect with the creator of the heavens and earth. We seek to understand. We pursue reason and purpose.
It is the journey that defines our days. It is how we live that is our lasting legacy. It is up to us and billions of others to pass along the message of hope. It is our generation that is responsible for the generations to follow. It is our response today that affects our children's relationships tomorrow. Their opportunity for a do-over depends on us.
We inherited the gifts of living peace and eternal salvation directly from God. His letters of hope have been passed down for thousands of years by those who made the message their meaning. Earthly assets turn to dust over time, as do all human bodies. Though no person or thing has proven to exist infinitely, God was and will be. This is a construct that we humans can't fully understand. It is above our pay grade. He never asks us to comprehend fully; He asks us to accept, believe, and respond accordingly.
The statistical probability is that we will depart this earth in a few short years. Death will bring relief, and a promise will be kept. Our life, we hope, inspired another to seek and be saved. For, once we saw the light, hearing the truth, we aimed to live less for ourselves and more in the service of the spirit.
As we prepare for our parting, we look to package up what we inherited and pass it along to the next generation. Our words and actions, we again hope, will carry more significance than our gold and silver. It is our heart's desire that our children, and their children, and their children, will, at their time, enter the kingdom of God.
May we all leave a lasting legacy, a legacy of truth.
